The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) is the voice of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey on issues of pro-Israel advocacy, public policy, social advocacy, and community outreach. JCRC fosters constructive relationships within the Jewish community and among people of all faiths and cultures regarding Jewish and Israel oriented issues.


JCRC sponsors programs dealing with the security of Israel, combating antisemitism, Holocaust remembrance and education, policies of importance to Jewish and non-Jewish residents of Southern New Jersey.

Our mission is to teach people about the past and to educate them for the future through the painful lessons of the Holocaust. Our objective is to reduce prejudice and lessen hatred, bigotry, bullying, and violence against all groups.

Children's Literacy Program

Interfaith literacy program that provides services to Title I elementary schools in low and moderate-income communities throughout Southern New Jersey. Sponsored by Townsend Press in Memory of Henry H. Nadell & Majorie Nadell Schneider.

  • The Braid Performances of Yearning to Breathe Free

    Thursday, March 28th - 7:00PM & Sunday, April 7th - 2:00PM - Virtual
    The JCRC of Southern NJ is partnering with The Braid, a Jewish story company, to bring two virtual performances to our community of Yearning to Breathe Free, true stories from today’s Jewish immigrants about inspiration, resilience and finding home.

  • Yom Hashoah Community Commemoration

    Sunday, May 5th - 7:00pm - Congregation Beth El
    Honoring and remembering local Holocaust survivors and the 6 million Jews and the millions of other victims of the Holocaust. Join us to hear Survivor, Maud Dahme, author of Chocolate, The Taste of Freedom, share her story of being a hidden Dutch child during the Holocaust.

  • Raab/Goodwin Eyewitness Testimony Series

    Multiple Dates through June
    Many of the Holocaust survivors and Concentration Camp Liberators in our community have had their testimonies that recount their experiences during the Holocaust recorded. To honor the Survivors and Liberators and learn about the consequences of hate and so many other important lessons the experiences teach us, we invite you to join us as we screen these videos and give the community the chance to hear these eyewitness testimonies.

  • David Horovitz Web Series

    Next Session: Monday, May 13 - 12pm
    JCRC is hosting a series of online briefings with David Horovitz, Founding Editor of the online newspaper The Times of Israel. In the briefings, Horovitz will provide updates about the latest events happening in Israel and the Middle East.

What We Do

The JCRC Israel Advocacy Initiative (IAI) helps to coordinate, educate and organize efforts among the South Jersey pro-Israel community in support and advocacy on behalf of Israel. IAI serves as a resource for individuals and organizations in our local community on the latest information, trends, issues and advocacy opportunities in support of Israel.


JCRC encourages amicable relationship, mutual understanding and respect among various groups, helps create and maintain conditions that are conducive to encouraging the continuity and vitality of Jewish living in a pluralistic society, protects and strengthens the rights and interests of the Jewish community, and combats antisemitism and every other form of racism or group prejudice.


JCRC manages the local Jewish Coalition for Literacy program in South Jersey - BookMates, operates the Catholic-Jewish Commission, facilitates the continuation of the Jewish Catholic Muslim Dialogue, develops Jewish relations with all faith, ethnic and racial groups, and serves on various Ministerium councils.
 


JCRC’s Esther Raab Holocaust Museum & Goodwin Education Center (Raab/Goodwin Center) teaches people about the past and educates them for the future through the painful lessons of the Holocaust. The objective is to reduce prejudice and lessen hatred, bigotry, bullying, and violence against all groups.
 


JCRC engages in government affairs to establish and maintain relationships with government officials, both elected and appointed, within the community, establish and maintain relationships with school administrators and educators within the community, and to establish and maintain relationships with law enforcement officials within the community.


JCRC strives to develop an intelligent and effective public opinion within and outside the Jewish community on Jewish community relations issues, problems, concerns and commitments. We provide the means for Jewish communal leadership to exchange views with key local, national and global public officials and opinion molders.
